The Merrimack River, at the juncture of the Chain Bridge, is one of the premier places near Boston to see eagles during the winter time. Deer Island provides a place to photograph and see Bald Eagles. A few years ago, a program was started to bring the Bald Eagle here in our state. Based on a Boston Globe report the eagle is making its way back and there appears to be some nesting eagles in that area.
Additionally, close to the Chain Bridge are Plum Island, one of the premier birding spots in the north shore, as well as Salisbury State Park, another area attracting birders years round.
